The concept
A private address after sunset.
The name is a quiet invention: mare, the sea of the moon, and lune, the light that makes a city readable without raising its voice. We wanted a house that felt like arriving home in London after dark — coat taken, lamp lowered, the evening still ahead.
Casino hospitality sits inside that idea. Gaming is offered as one room among others, never as the whole character of the place.
Hospitality
Service that knows when to recede.
Staff are trained for a residential standard: names remembered, doors anticipated, conversation offered only when it is wanted. The house prefers precision to performance.
Whether a guest is staying overnight, dining, or visiting the lounge, the same manners apply. Nothing is hurried. Nothing is announced more loudly than it needs to be.
Interior design
Walnut, ivory, and a little moonlight.
Rooms are dressed as London interiors rather than hotel sets. Deep woods, ivory textiles, muted stone and a restrained note of brass recur through corridors, suites and the lounge.
Art Deco geometry appears as line and proportion — in panelling, in the cut of a headboard, in the grid of a table — not as costume. The aim is atmosphere, not ornament for its own sake.

Architecture
A London house, arranged for evening.
The building on Primrose Gardens holds a sequence of thresholds: street, lobby, corridor, room. Each is slightly darker, slightly quieter, than the last. Guests feel the city recede without being sealed away from it.
Public rooms are scaled for conversation. Private rooms are scaled for rest. The casino lounge occupies a lower, more enclosed part of the house, with its own rhythm and its own door.
Guest experience
The night, held with care.
A stay at Marellune might be a single evening or several days. Some guests come for a suite and barely leave it. Others move between dining, the lounge and a late walk through Belsize Park. The house is arranged so that none of these choices feel like a programme.
We do not press extras, timed offers or theatrical welcomes. The measure of the evening is whether it felt like yours.
Service standards
Discretion as a working method.
Identification is requested where the law and the house require it, particularly for the casino lounge. Dress is evening-appropriate: composed, not costume. Mobile photography in the gaming rooms is not permitted.
The team is briefed to protect quiet. Messages are taken. Rooms are prepared in advance. Special occasions are marked only when a guest has asked for them to be.
London character
North of the park, after hours.
Belsize Park has always been a little apart from the West End’s noise: villas, gardens, bookshops, and a cultural life that prefers the evening to the spectacle. Marellune takes that cue. It is a British house in the contemporary sense — reserved, well made, and more interested in atmosphere than in display.
